How to be a good Big sister

She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, she's the reason you wish you were an only child.-Barbara Alpert

There is no magical solution, no formula when it comes to compassion. There is no such thing as a magic spell to improve your relationship with younger sister. There are only common guidelines, rules of thumb, called “heuristics”. Of course, your younger sister takes pleasure in hanging out with you. She probably would fancy just watching television with you. Don’t be so surprised! Almost all younger sisters admire and respect their older sisters; they want to be similar to you. And if you are a good role model—why wouldn’t they want to be simply like you?
